SDI's 2-star diving course is specially designed to give a beginner diver an experience in various diving fields and learn various diving specialties.

During the 2 days of the course you will meet the world of diving specialties and you will get a taste of various diving topics such as diving to a wreck ship and underwater navigation. The 2-star diving course will give you a night dive experience where you will learn to manage right a dive of a different kind. buoyancy will also get a special dive where you can learn how to improve your level of buoyancy in water and thus contribute to your safety and enjoyment of diving.

 

The following is a 2-star diving course:

The aim of this course is to give the diver a review of 6 selected SDI specialties. This course is intended to be a training course for each of the 5 specializations, and not a certification in them. One dive from any subject of specialization is sufficient for qualification as a second star diver. Indoor environment and specialties that are not directly related to diving are not allowed and are not counted in the 6 required specialties.

Pre-requisites: Open Water or Junior Open Water. Minimum age of 18 years. Minimum age of 12 years with parental consent. 5 dives should be performed with briefings and full instructions by the instructor. The dive design should include a break on the water surface, maximum time without decompression, etc. The dives should be recorded in the log. All dives will be supervised directly by the instructor.

 

What we will learn in a 2-star diving course:

Deep dive: dive tables and computers. No decompression Use of decompression arrays by dive computer. Safety parking. Problem Solving of Deepwater physiology: Special reference to environmental pressure greater than three atmospheres. Air consumption. Carbon dioxide poisoning. Deep intoxication. Oxygen poisoning. Decompression disease. Emergency procedures for deep diver: Techniques for using a safety tank. Place pressure cells in the dive area. Providing oxygen. Shock therapy.

Navigation: Marine Environment: Sight. light. Voice. Tides. Currents. waves. erosion. Natural navigation: ground relief. depth. The amount of light. erosion. Currents. The ground cover. Navigation Compass: Compass types. Digital analog. Tools: Reference line Calipers Reflective digits Compass: Azimuth repeats. A square. triangular. Assessment of diving distance: Cyclic kicks fins. time.

The students will be given 3 additional specialization courses from the "Diving Specializations" list. The course consists of 6 dives.

 

Dive Program Depth Specialization:

Checking diving equipment. Familiarity with the site. Deepening the planned depth without exception. Dive according to dive planning, maximum depth 30 meters. A student younger than age 15 may dive up to 18 meters. Perform a safety parking as required.

Diving Program Navigation Specialties:

Can be practiced above water level. It is recommended to take advantage of a beach or vertical descent as a starting and ending point. Planning a dive entering water through a boat or beach practice returning azimuth from the surface of the water. Making a square underwater navigation. Perform a triple underwater navigation. enter and exit of the dive.

The other 4 diving topics will be: night diving, buoyance diving, ship dives, and sea diving.
